Biography
Rick Schmidt was born in Bay County Michigan where he has resided all his life.Growing up on the Family farm in Frankenlust Township, he learned the ethics of hard work.
He graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1972 and then worked on the family farm as well as working full time as a heavy-duty truck mechanic for a large trucking company.
In 1983 he was able to pursue his lifelong dream and attended The “World Wide College of Auctioneering” in Mason City Iowa, and graduated as an Auctioneer. Once in the Auction Business he then proceeded on another venture.In 1985 he attended Real Estate School.After completing the course he went to work for one of the largest Commercial Real Estate Companies in the Tri-City area.
For the past 30+ years, he owned and operated “The Finest” Auction Company in Bay City as well as the owner of “The Finest” Antique Mall in Downtown Bay City, which he recently retired from the day to day retail store to spend more time in the Real Estate Business.
A few years later he went to work for American Real Estate in the Saginaw area where he bought, sold, leased and Auctioned many commercial properties.He received his Associate Brokers license in the early 1990’s.
His hobbies include watching and attending Nascar races, going to auctions, flea markets etc., and collecting local historical artifacts.
Today he is an Associate Broker with the Commercial Division at Best Real Estate, Janca and Associates, Inc. in Bay City Michigan.
You will perhaps see Rick about the town conducting benefit Auctions for the Non-Profit Organizations and for the needy.He is always willing to volunteer his services for a good cause!
